With service starting in 1897, Boston has one of the oldest subway systems, currently referred to as the “T”. The “T” consists of Red, Orange, Green, and Blue Lines. To get across town using mass transit, riders must take a bus, since all four subway lines travel to and from downtown. Perhaps because of its haphazard street design, Boston is a very popular “walking” city, with the highest percentage of on-foot commuters of any city in the U.S.

The commuter rail system is sometimes called the Purple Line. There are two major railway hubs in Boston, called the North and South Stations. The Orange Line connects the North Station and a third, smaller, rail hub, Back Bay Station.

Logan International Airport is accessible by express bus, subway (Blue Line), and water transport.

If you are planning a trip find out how to get around.
